Abia banker, two others gunned down in Umuahia


A banker with a popular Nigerian bank, identified as Mr Victor has been killed in Umuahia by suspected kidnappers who attempted to kidnap him.

The banker was shot dead by the suspected kidnappers at Isi Court junction at Old Umuahia while shopping.

It was gathered that the late banker struggled with his attackers who were trying to force him into their vehicle but was shot when he tried to escape from the scene.



After shooting him, the kidnappers abandoned their vehicle and snatched another vehicle from another person whom they also shot dead before fleeing with his car.

At Ubakala, a stone’s throw, the suspected kidnappers also shot dead another victim said to be a tricycle operator.

The killings have jolted the entire neighbourhood.

The ugly development was confirmed by Abia State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa on Thursday while he was addressing Journalists in his office.



The Commissioner of Police who said his men were on the trail of the fleeing killers, assured Abia people that the suspects would be nabbed and prosecuted.

The Commissioner further said his men are prepared to secure the state during the November 2 local government elections.
