Africa Supply Chain Summit in Lagos

Africa’s supply chain development is the focus of an upcoming summit, which will bring together industry stakeholders across the continent to transform the continent’s procurement sector into a more efficient driver of development.

According to a statement, the President of the African Public Procurement Network, Dr Clever Ruswa, will deliver the keynote address at the 7th Africa Procurement and Supply Chain Summit scheduled to be held on July 3 and 4, 2025, in Lagos.

The summit, themed “Driving Impact through Innovation: The Future of Procurement & Supply in Africa,” will gather supply chain professionals, industry leaders, and regulators to explore innovations that could advance procurement practices across the continent.

Ruswa, who also serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe, is expected to present actionable strategies for strengthening procurement governance to promote transparency, sustainability, and competitiveness.

He said the summit presents a “critical stage for elevating procurement standards,” and he will use the platform to highlight how innovation and best practices can “bolster transparency, bring sustainable growth, and unleash Africa’s economic promise.”

The APPN, which Ruswa leads, represents public procurement bodies from 46 African countries. The summit organisers noted that under his leadership, the network has been pushing for procurement reforms that align with global standards while addressing Africa’s unique economic realities.

It added that at PRAZ, Ruswa has led regulatory reforms aimed at promoting fairness and strengthening accountability in public procurement processes.

His professional background spans finance, infrastructure, and regulatory leadership. He previously served as Group Chief Executive Officer at Mike Appel Organisation, Chief Operating Officer at the Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe, General Manager at ZB Financial Holdings, and Head of Operations at Interfin Bank.

The summit will also feature contributions from industry heavyweights, including MTN, Ghana’s National Petroleum Authority, Volta River Authority, and Flour Mills of Nigeria Limited.

According to the organisers, it will serve as a platform for benchmarking strategies, exchanging ideas, and responding to emerging challenges in procurement and supply chain management.
