Kizz Daniel Opens Up About Relationship With Late Father, Inspiration Behind New Song

Afrobeat singer and songwriter Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has shared insights into the deep bond he had with his late father, revealing how that relationship inspired his latest song.

Speaking during a podcast interview, Kizz Daniel revealed that the death of his father deeply influenced his latest song, Al-Jannah.

“When my dad was alive, he was my best friend,” he said, reflecting on the close bond they shared.
Al-Jannah means ‘paradise’. I wanted to write a tribute song,” Kizz Daniel explained. “We’ve experienced loss over the years. We lost our son in 2021, I lost my dad in 2015, my wife lost her mum in 2024, and I also lost my stepmother. We’ve lost a whole lot of people.”

He continued, “I didn’t want the song to be just about one person. It’s a tribute to everyone we’ve loved and lost along this journey of life.”

“I think I was able to accomplish that by using the word friend in the song,” he said.

Kizz Daniel lost his father on the 9th of May, 2015, just a few days after his 21st birthday.
