Nigerian Ogbelu Makes Esperance’s Squad For Club World Cup


Former Flying Eagles midfielder, Onuche Ogbelu has been named in Esperance 25-man squad for the FIFA Club World Cup.

The 22-year-old has established himself as a key player for the Tunisian club following his arrival from Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, side Nasarawa United in September 2023.

Ogbelu recently penned a new two-year contract with the Blood and Gold.

The playmaker was part of Flying Eagles squad to the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt,and 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina

He is a product of Fosla Academy owned by former Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, president Sani Lulu.

Esperance will open their campaign against Flamengo of Brazil on Tuesday, 17 June.

Chelsea and Los Angeles FC are the other teams in the group.
