Edun unveils new SEC website

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has officially unveiled the new website of the Securities and Exchange Commission, marking a step in the digital transformation of Nigeria’s capital market.

The unveiling took place during the recent Capital Market Committee meeting, where Edun, represented by the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite, highlighted the importance of digital innovation in enhancing transparency, investor confidence, and market efficiency.

Speaking at the event, Edun stressed that the new SEC website would provide investors, issuers, and stakeholders with improved access to regulatory information and market data, facilitating easier compliance and boosting participation in the Nigerian capital market.

“This digital platform is part of our broader commitment to modernise the financial sector and create an enabling environment that supports growth, innovation, and inclusion,” Edun said.

The new website features user-friendly interfaces, enhanced security protocols, and up-to-date resources, aiming to improve engagement between the SEC and market participants.

Also, the Director-General of the SEC, Emomotimi Agama, welcomed the launch, saying it aligned with the Commission’s goal to deepen investor education, regulatory transparency, and operational efficiency.

The SEC has also launched various initiatives alongside the website to promote financial literacy, including podcasts and e-surveys targeted at assessing technology adoption in the market.

Market experts believe that the digital upgrades spearheaded by the SEC and supported by the Ministry of Finance will play a crucial role in positioning Nigeria’s capital market as a competitive player in Africa and beyond.

The PUNCH reported that the Securities and Exchange Commission has set up an implementation team for the new law, the Investments and Securities Act 2025, to ensure the achievement of the core of the law.
