ENIFF Introduces New Category For AI-Generated Films

The Eastern Nigeria International Film Festival (ENIFF) has taken a bold step into the future of storytelling by introducing a new category dedicated to AI-generated films. This innovative move reflects the festival’s commitment to embracing emerging technologies and expanding creative boundaries within the cinematic landscape.

The introduction of the AI-generated films category builds on the success of last year’s Storytelling With AI workshop, hosted by ENIFF. The workshop brought together aspiring, emerging, and established filmmakers and writers from Nigeria and Kenya, exploring the creative potential of artificial intelligence in film production.

In addition to the Micro-Cinema category—which now includes AI-generated submissions—filmmakers are invited to submit entries across various other categories: Documentary (Feature and Short), Narrative Feature, Narrative Short, Animation, and Experimental. Awards will also be presented for excellence in acting, directing, and Cinematography.

Founded six years ago ENIFF is an annual festival and dynamic platform dedicated to showcasing the talents of independent filmmakers, artists in storytellers in the film and digital media. The festival is also committed to empowering female filmmakers and embracing diversity across all genre of filmmaking.

Submissions are open till August 31, while the festival holds November 26 – 29, 2025.
