CIPM announces over 2,000 new members at AGM

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria has revealed a surge of 2,080 new members between September 2024 and April 2025, underscoring its continued growth and the increasing trust in the institute’s vision for the nation’s evolving human resources landscape.

This was disclosed at the 56th Annual General Meeting of the institute, held recently in Lagos.

In his keynote address, CIPM President, Ahmed Gobir, also noted several other growth metrics, including a 17 per cent increase in student registrations, a 43 per cent rise in member inductions, and a 27 per cent boost in membership upgrades. The transition from full member to Fellow saw a remarkable 33 per cent increase.

“We are pleased with the continued support and commitment from HR professionals across Nigeria, and we are confident that this upward trend will continue,” Gobir said.

Gobir also highlighted geographical outreach, with first-time induction ceremonies in Abuja, Abia, Osun, and Akwa Ibom States.

The institute also reactivated the public service HR pathway, further connecting with military and paramilitary HR stakeholders.

The institute continues to shape public sector reform by contributing to the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP25), particularly in areas like Capability Building, Talent Management, and Performance Management.

Additionally, CIPM secured a seat on the African Human Resources Confederation Board and signed a Mutual Recognition of Membership Agreement with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development UK. The institute also forged collaborations with HRCI USA, Lagos Business School, and Business Round Table Consult.

Looking ahead, Gobir mentioned the launch of several new initiatives, including the Members Portal, a secure e-voting system, and an Examination Portal, which is set for deployment in June 2025.

The AGM also recognised the best-performing and most-improved branches, with the Delta State Branch emerging as the top performer, followed by Ogun, Oyo, and Rivers States. The Adamawa branch, which jumped from 21st to 12th place, was also acknowledged for its significant improvement.

The PUNCH reported that the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria announced earlier that it had successfully inducted a total of 188 new members through its Executive and Practitioners’ Routes, reaffirming its commitment to excellence in Public Service HR Management.
