Credo by eTranzact has expanded its digital footprint in southern Nigeria by launching a market-level digital payment activation aimed at empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises.

In a statement on Monday, the campaign, which took place across three major markets in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was designed to support informal retailers in transitioning from cash-based transactions to more secure, traceable digital payments.

The roadshow, organised in partnership with Eligbam City, witnessed participation from small business owners, many of whom had never used digital point-of-sale or reconciliation tools before.

Over several days, the Credo team engaged traders at Garrison Computer Village, Rumukalagbor Market, and Rumuomasi Market through live demonstrations, onboarding sessions, and business support workshops.

Speaking at the event, Product Marketing Manager for Credo by eTranzact, Omokorede Amund, said the goal was to build trust and provide long-term support to small businesses.

“We are not just building a payment solution, we’re building confidence in the future of small businesses,” Amund stated.

The statement noted that the campaign addressed key concerns among traders, including transaction security, daily settlement delays, and the user-friendliness of digital payment tools.

“Port Harcourt is full of hustle and innovation; this roadshow allowed us to meet business owners where they are and demonstrate practical ways they can benefit from digital payments,” Amund added.

The initiative also featured a raffle draw that rewarded participants with items such as WiFi routers, cash gifts, and business tools, offering immediate value to attendees and encouraging adoption of the platform.

For many local MSMEs, the campaign marked their first real exposure to a digital payment solution tailored specifically for small-scale businesses. The activation reflects a growing trend among fintechs to move beyond digital advertising and engage directly with the grassroots economy.
