Financial markets education company, FXTM Academy, organised a charity cycling event that drew 200 participants from across cities in Nigeria, including Lagos, Port Harcourt, Ilorin, Ibadan, and Abeokuta.
In a statement made available to our correspondent on Sunday, the event, which took place recently, featured six categories, including professional male and female, junior male and female, veteran male, and female.
The statement added that the race was held on a 2.8km circuit. Junior cyclists completed 10 laps, Veterans raced 14 laps, while Professionals completed 20 laps.
It stated that winners in the Professional categories received N800,000, N500,000, N300,000, and N200,000 for the first to fourth positions, respectively. Cyclists who placed between 5th and 15th positions received N50,000 each.
According to the statement, winners in the Junior Male and Female categories earned N200,000, N100,000, and N50,000, respectively, while winners in the Veteran category were awarded N500,000, N300,000, and N200,000.
The statement noted that participants and spectators commended the organisers for promoting community development and fitness through sport.
It also quoted FXTM Academy’s Country Representative, Kelechi Ehibudu, as saying that the initiative was aimed at promoting values such as perseverance, discipline, endurance, and continuous improvement.
The event, according to the statement, is part of FXTM Academy’s commitment to community development and social impact through sports.
