Firm unveils talent platform for PWDs

K&K Fashion House has unveiled a free talent platform designed to spotlight the creativity of persons living with disabilities to promote inclusion.

Founder of K&K Fashion House, Akinmade Dorcas, in a statement, noted that the initiative, themed ‘Empowering Every Talent, Celebrating Every Ability,’ offers participants the opportunity to showcase their skills in music, fashion design, art, storytelling and other creative pursuits.

At each event, 30 individuals are selected to perform, compete and inspire in what the organisers described as a “supportive and celebratory environment.”

K&K Fashion House said the initiative is grounded on three core pillars, Empowerment, Inclusion and Community Impact, aimed at creating opportunities for expression, promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and challenging stereotypes.

“At K&K Fashion House, we believe that talent knows no bounds,” a spokesperson for the company said. “Everyone deserves a stage to shine, regardless of their challenges.

Through this platform, we are creating a vibrant and accessible space where creativity is nurtured, abilities are recognized, and dreams are realized.”

Dorcas also appealed to government and private organisations to collaborate in supporting platforms that unlock hidden potential in persons with disabilities.

“We must go beyond seeing disability; we must see possibilities,” she said. “There are so many hidden talents waiting to be discovered. But it will take deliberate, consistent efforts, from both government and the private sector to give these individuals the platform they deserve.”

She added that persons with disabilities deserve focused attention, encouragement and resources to fulfil their dreams.

“There is greatness in every human being,” she said. “It’s our collective responsibility to create the right environment where people, regardless of their abilities, can thrive.”

Advocates have also called on government, corporate bodies and civil society to work together in developing more inclusive programmes that enable persons with disabilities to contribute meaningfully to society.

According to the organisers, bookings for upcoming shows are now open and entirely free, in line with the company’s mission to “celebrate every talent and promote a truly inclusive society.”
