Blanche Aigle Communications has launched a talent development programme designed to equip young graduates with practical skills for the communications and digital media industries.
In a statement released recently, the agency highlighted a skills gap in the industry despite the increasing demand for high-impact campaigns.
The statement pointed out that youth unemployment among individuals with post-secondary education stood at 9.0 per cent in Q1 2024, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
This translates to approximately 600,000 graduates entering the labour market annually, with the unemployment rate among degree holders continuing to rise.
The agency noted that this widening gap between academic learning and real-world application emphasises the urgent need for graduate internship opportunities and talent development initiatives in Nigeria.
The lead consultant at Blanche Aigle Communications, Nene Bejide, explained that the Talent Development Programme was designed to address this gap.
The programme offers a six-week training that aims to bridge the divide between classroom education and industry expectations. It focuses on developing skills in public relations, media, and digital marketing, assisting graduates in making a smooth transition into the workforce.
“We are not just offering internships; we are offering access, training, and mentorship that can transform a graduate’s career,” Bejide said. “The programme is our way of building a pipeline of future-ready professionals. It is an opportunity to provide young people with the right tools and opportunities to grow.”
Bejide added that participants will engage in live client projects covering areas such as corporate communications.
“Outstanding students may be selected for internship placements lasting three to six months at Blanche Aigle Communications.”
