Emotional Moment Late Mohbad’s Wife, Son Accept Posthumous Award For ‘Best Street Artist’

Late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly called Mohbad, was honoured with the ‘Best Street Artist’ award at the prestigious Headies 2025 ceremony held on Sunday night at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos.

In one of the most emotional highlights of the night, Mohbad’s widow, Wunmi and his young son, Liam, walked onto the stage to accept the award on his behalf.

The award was presented by popular actress, Regina Daniels, and BBNaija reality TV star Bambam, who both offered comforting words as they handed over the plaque to Wunmi and her son.

Clutching the award tightly, Mohbad’s wife, visibly moved, thanked fans, the organisers, and all who have stood by Mohbad’s legacy.

“We want to specially thank you for this Award, although Mohbad is not here but he lives on because I don’t like to address him as my late husband because he lives on through our son Liam.

“Though Liam is too young to grasp the depth of his father’s greatness, but I know that one day he will know,” she said.

LEADERSHIP reports that Mohbad, who passed away in September, 2023, was celebrated for his raw street anthems that spoke to the struggles and dreams of everyday Nigerians.

His posthumous recognition at the Headies once again cements his place as a voice that will not be easily forgotten.
