MOJEC boss bags energy award

The Group Managing Director of MOJEC International and Chief Executive Officer of Virtuitus Solaris, Chantelle Abdul, has been honoured for her contributions to the power sector.

Abdul recently bagged the Most Influential Personality of the Year 2024 at the Energy Times Awards in recognition of her leadership and contributions to energy security in Nigeria.

In a statement on Wednesday, MOJEC Group said it received three awards at the ceremony.

“In addition to Abdul’s recognition, MOJEC International was awarded ‘Brand of the Year’ while Mrs Mojisola Abdul, the Chairman of MOJEC Group, was named ‘Energy Sector Entrepreneur of the Year’ for her decades-long commitment to driving innovation and excellence in the energy landscape,” the statement read.

In her acceptance speech, the GMD appreciated the organisers, saying, “This recognition means a great deal not only to me but to all those committed to Nigeria’s energy future.”

She also highlighted the current shifts within the sector, citing new leadership at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and the 2023 Electricity Act, which she said opened up significant opportunities for growth, reform, and increased electrification across Nigeria.

“These changes signal even more opportunities to electrify our citizens,” Abdul stated.

She referenced the World Bank and International Finance Corporation M300 initiative, a landmark project aimed at electrifying 300 million Africans by 2030 with over $50bn in committed funding.

“As MOJEC, Virtuitus Solaris, and our various power companies, we are absolutely committed to this cause. It is a history-making and legacy-leaving opportunity for us to electrify Nigeria and the continent,” she added.

MOJEC International is an indigenous energy company focused on metering, power distribution solutions, and renewable energy through its subsidiary, Virtuitus Solaris.
