Delta introduces cloud-based in-flight entertainment system

Delta Air Lines, celebrating its 100th anniversary, has unveiled a groundbreaking cloud-based in-flight entertainment system at CES 2025, marking a century of aviation innovation.

The announcement was made in a statement  during the airline’s major presentation at the event in Las Vegas, highlighting both its rich legacy and its forward-looking technological advancements.

In his keynote address, CEO Ed Bastian emphasised Delta’s continued dedication to innovation within the travel industry.

“New marvels like AI, the digital revolution, and sustainable technology are giving us incredible tools to transform the travel experience,” Bastian said. “But amid the wonder of new technology, we’ve always understood that the entire point of innovation is to lift people up.”

The newly introduced cloud-based platform builds on the personalized Delta Sync experience launched in 2023. It provides SkyMiles Members with expanded content offerings and an exclusive partnership with YouTube, allowing passengers to enjoy ad-free access to creators, podcasts, and music artists through Delta Sync Wi-Fi and seatback systems.

As part of Delta’s broader vision for the future of travel, Bastian also outlined a multi-modal experience where a single customer itinerary would be seamlessly connected from start to finish through deep partner integrations.

Sharing the stage with Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, Bastian announced a new partnership that would allow customers to link their Uber and SkyMiles accounts, earning miles for eligible rides and deliveries.

Further enhancing the connected travel ecosystem, Delta Concierge will integrate with Joby’s electric air taxi service, promising to revolutionize the travel experience by offering home-to-airport transportation in the future.

During the event, attendees also got an exclusive preview of Delta Locals, a new travel planning platform designed to leverage emerging technologies for enhanced convenience.

Delta’s Chief Marketing Officer, Alicia Tillman, remarked, “Delta’s appearance at CES is a testament to the strength of our brand and the exciting future ahead.

This was an opportunity for attendees to experience who we are in a new and unforgettable way. As we look toward the next century, we’re committed to creating more moments that inspire and allow us to enrich our customer connections while continuing to spotlight and celebrate our incredible Delta people.”
