BPSR partners firm on public service reforms

The Federal Government through the Bureau of Public Service Reforms has partnered with Niche Customer Experience Consulting Firm to boost Nigeria’s public service delivery.

The agreement was formalised on Thursday at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Bureau of Public Service Reforms and the consulting firm in Abuja.

The partnership is aimed at organising the inaugural Nigerian National Public Service Experience Conference in 2025.

The Director General of the BPSR, Mr Ibrahim Arabi emphasised the transformative potential of this partnership.

“This collaboration is about reshaping and reimagining the delivery of public service in Nigeria. By leveraging the private sector’s capacity for innovation and customer focus, we aim to build a public service that truly meets the needs of all Nigerians,” he said.

Arabi noted that the initiative comes at a time when public expectations are evolving.

“For decades, Nigerian public service has been the backbone of governance and development. However, to meet today’s expectations, we must transform mindsets and practices. This conference will serve as a platform for reflection, reinvention, and inspiration,” he said.

The Nigerian National Public Service Experience Conference is set to bring together public service officials from across the nation to challenge outdated practices and learn innovative approaches.

“This annual event will not just be a gathering. It will be a space for public servants and private sector professionals to engage in meaningful conversations that can collectively chart a new course for public service delivery,” Arabi explained.

Founder of Niche Customer Experience Consulting Firm, Onome Akwara stated, “I believe in the transformative power of customer experience. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to excellence and a belief that by working together, we can achieve transformative results.”

“Today, we are not just sealing a document; we are signaling a new era of collaboration, innovation, and impact,” she added.

She noted that the conference aims not only to discuss best practices but also to implement actionable changes through various initiatives, including nationwide research to understand citizens’ expectations and workshops designed to build capacity among public servants.

“This initiative is about the market woman in Lagos, the farmer in Kano, and every Nigerian who dreams of a better tomorrow,” Akwara emphasized.

Arabi reiterated his commitment to public service reforms in Nigeria. “Our actions will shape how Nigerians experience governance and trust public institutions,” Arabi said.
