Digify Africa empowers youth with digital skills

The Digify Pro Online programme has successfully equipped 82 Nigerian youth with critical digital marketing skills, preparing them for career opportunities in the digital economy, the organisation disclosed in a statement on Thursday.

The initiative, led by Digify Africa, aims to empower unemployed youth in Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya by providing them with the skills needed to pursue jobs or entrepreneurial ventures in digital marketing.

The programme has recently transitioned to a fully online format, leveraging cutting-edge technology, including AI, to offer a flexible learning experience.

Participants in Nigeria’s Digify Pro Online Cohort 6.0 completed a 12-week intensive bootcamp, covering a wide range of digital marketing disciplines such as social media strategy, SEO, content marketing, web design, data analytics, paid advertising, and AI-powered content generation.

The programme also included job-readiness training to prepare graduates for the professional world.

The programme director at Digify Nigeria, Florence Atunwa-Olumodimu, said the exercise aims to inject new energy into Nigeria’s advertising industry by offering well-trained, highly skilled graduates.

“The end goal of the Digital Skills Bootcamp is to inject the Nigerian advertising industry with well-trained Digify Pro graduates who bring a new burst of energy and cutting-edge skills,” Atunwa-Olumodimu said.

The programme also provides mentoring from industry professionals and guest lectures from leading advertising agencies. It was designed to ensure that participants not only gain technical skills but also develop the confidence and work-readiness necessary to thrive in the workforce.

“We are reaching out to marketing communication agencies and organisations who would like to hire our Bootcamp graduates. They come with a wide range of skills, knowledge, and hands-on experience and will be great assets for any company they join,” she added.

Founded in 2014, Digify Africa has been working to bridge the continent’s digital divide by offering accessible youth-centred learning programs, aiming to combat youth unemployment by providing young Africans with the tools to succeed in the digital economy.

The programme’s successful completion of the Nigeria Digify Pro Online Cohort 6.0 marks a milestone in the organisation’s efforts to equip the next generation of digital talent across the continent.
