Terminal operator to tackle water challenge in host community

Advanced International Merchant Limited,  an operator of the bonded terminal, has promised to donate two new modern boreholes to the host community in Sagamu in Ogun State.

The bonded terminal operator while announcing the development recently during a courtesy visit to the palace of the King of Ewusi, Makun, Oba Timothy Oyesola Akinsanya, the Orungba II, Ewusi of Makun in Sagamu, said that the boreholes would be powered by solar.

It added that the move was part of the Corporate Social Responsibilities of the organisation to the host community.

The Managing Director of the logistics firm, Mr Cyprian Nwankwo, reiterated that the move was a way of giving back to the society where he operated his business.

The firm also donated some foodstuff, including 25 cartons of Indomie and 10 bags of rice.

The firm boss added that the visit was to familiarise the paramount ruler as well as to get on the project.

“We have in mind to install two boreholes for the host community as a starting point and these boreholes will be powered by solar. We are going to put a tank, which means that when the tank is full, the pump will stop, and once it is getting empty, it starts pumping automatically, Nwankwo explained.

In his response, the Oba applauded Nwankwo for deeming it fit to establish such an organisation in the community, saying some other persons would have preferred foreign countries.

“I don’t know how to express my gratitude because you are not the only company that is around here but what you are doing now, it is only a few of the companies that have done it,

“On behalf of my community, I appreciate you.  You didn’t go to Ghana or Liberia to establish; you know that Nigeria belongs to you. I pray that you don’t regret your actions of coming to establish in Nigeria,” the monarch said.

Oba Akinsanya assured the MD that the community would not allow any encroachment of the firm’s land by community members.

“If since 2009, you have not encountered any problems there, I am sure you will not encounter any problems in the future.

“If there is any intruder, let us know, please, because my people are fond of saying this land belongs to their grandfather and that we have not taken our dues,” he submitted.
