CIPM president joins AHRC board


The President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, Mallam Ahmed Gobir, has been appointed to the Board of the African Human Resources Confederation.

A statement from CIPM noted that the appointment recognised Gobir’s exceptional leadership in advancing human resources management in Nigeria and across Africa.

“Under his stewardship at CIPM, he has championed professional excellence, leadership development, and policies that enhance employee well-being and drive sustainable growth,” the institute said.

It further stated that Gobir’s inclusion on the board was expected to amplify Nigeria’s voice in shaping the future of HR on the continent, bolstering CIPM’s regional and international influence.

In his acceptance statement, Gobir said, “This is a significant opportunity for CIPM to influence the growth of HR across Africa.

Together, we will work towards creating work environments that promote people-centred development, innovation, and sustainable growth.”

According to the CIPM boss, the new role aligned with the institute’s mission to advance HR as a strategic function across sectors, fostering a skilled and agile workforce.

As a board member of AHRC, Gobir said he aimed to drive impactful changes in workplace practices, advocate for progressive HR policies, and enhance collaboration among HR professionals across Africa.
