30-Year-Old Emerges APC Chairmanship Candidate In Edo

A 30-year-old Anthony Osarobo has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship candidate for the Edo State Local Government Election scheduled for July.

His emergence was announced by the chairmanship and councillorship election committee, chaired by Hon. Charity Amanyaevbo, the Edo State Commissioner for Youth Affairs.

Osarobo pulled a total of 3,020 votes to emerge the winner of the APC primary election that took place at the Iguobazuwa community town hall.

The council returning officer for Iguobazuwa West Ward 2 and Commissioner for Livestock Development, Prof. Ikponmwonsa Omorodion, said both elections took place in a peaceful atmosphere.

He noted that the party came up with a concensus chairmanship candidate whom delegates voted for overwhelmingly.

He commended the governor and his deputy for providing the right leadership that birthed the peaceful primary election.

Spokesperson, Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC), Mr Albert Eguaoje, who supervised the conduct of the primary, described the process as “very cordial, free and fair.

“What I observed here is that things went well, the people behaved orderly, and the chosen aspirant took the day.”

On his part, the state’s deputy governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, praised Governor Monday Okpebholo for providing the needed leadership.

He further commended the party’s leadership and the delegates for their peaceful conduct during the primary election.

However, he urged everyone to work for the party’s success in the poll.

“With the emergence of Osarobo Anthony as the APC flagbearer, he becomes the youngest incoming Council Chairman to emerge out of the APC.

“With the success of the primary, we must now all work hard and in unity for our party to emerge victorious in the poll

“Our candidate is a very resourceful person who is committed, reliable and loyal. A young man whom we believe will work in line with the vision of our leader and Governor, Monday Okpebholo,” he stated.

Similarly, the outgoing chairman of Ovia South West, Hon. Nosakhare Edobor, admonished politicians to always imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and also respect the supremacy of the party.

He asserted that he would leave office as a proud person with legacy projects across the wards.

Edobor called on Anthony Osarobo to come up with a developmental strategy that would place the council area among the best in the state.

The APC flagbearer, in his acceptance speech, commended the party and its leadership for finding him worthy.

He declared that if voted into office, he would replicate the SHINE Agenda of Governor Monday Okpebholo in the council area.
